Insulated housekeeping cabins sleep 4 to 6 people (with a futon), wood cookstoves (wood provided, not split). Dishes, cutlery and cooking utensils provided. Running cold water in the cabins during the summer months.

Lookout Lodge is a custom log home completed just a few years ago. Our "Western King of the Castle" is truly a unique mountain residence.

Large timbers and a giant log truss form the structure of the impressive dining room with seating for 12 and has a lounge area for hors d’oeuvres.

Just off the dining room is the expansive, professional kitchen with granite counter tops and top of the line appliances offering all that a chef could want. Including two dishwashers.

From the kitchen one enters the large great room with spectacular, panoramic views of the valley and inviting fireplace. There is also an island for casual dining or afternoon tea.

The five spacious bedrooms combine contemporary with mountain lifestyle with ample beds for up to 16 people.

Designed for entertaining throughout the house, the loft area above the dining area has a pool table and wet bar. Meanwhile the ground floor is the media center of the home with a home theater with 108-inch screen and a family room with flat panel TV and Wii games and another wet bar.

Relax in the hot tub with its stellar views and then take a steam shower to further unwind after a day full of activity. Enjoy 360-degree views from the rooftop deck. The home also features three gas fireplaces, in-floor heating throughout the home, and two full-sized washers and dryers one on the lower level and one on the main level. The main floor Living Room is decorated with two large rolled-sleeved Chesterfield tufted couches with plenty of throw pillows and blankets, to enjoy the wood stove fireplace, and all are placed under a warm dimming deer antler chandelier. On the lower level, there is a queen bedroom with a custom built-in closet, a reading chair and table, along with a nightstand with an alarm clock and USB charging station. Also, on the lower level, the second Living Room’s couches fold into full size futons each, plus a separate area that includes a twin bunk-bed. All beds include memory foam mattresses, luxury linens, extra pillows, plush duvets and extra blankets. Bedrooms all have a new SMART 4K TV with Netflix, Apple TV and cable with side tables with lamps, and alarm clocks with USB charging stations. Open layout fully equipped kitchen, living room, and dining room. Separate loft has been designated as the entertainment room to watch TV (DIRECTV), access your Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Account, or grab a movie from the DVD collection.

Has a fully equipped kitchen with an electric cook top, double oven, French Door Fridge and Freezer, dishwasher, microwave, blender, pressure cooker, electric handheld mixer, electric can opener, and toaster. Also includes sharp! knives, coffee maker (no filters needed), coffee percolator, French press, stovetop espresso maker, tea kettle, crock pot, waffle maker, Le Creuset pots, baking trays and molds and bread pans, and assorted pots, pans, dinnerware, flatware, and serving ware. We do also have a turkey pan and platters for the holidays, and BBQ tools.

The dining room has a farmhouse table that seats 10. The dining hutch offers wine glasses, cordial glassware, beer mugs, martini shaker, etc.

We have made it easy for our guests, we provide a key code to the front door prior to your arrival, so no key exchange is necessary.

Price includes: Firewood for the cabin and barn fire pit, Pizza Oven, and indoor fireplace. Towels, Sheets, Blankets, Toilet paper, Paper towels, Dish soap, Dishwasher soap, Washing Machine soap, Shampoo and Conditioner, Kitchen Garbage Bags, sugar and spices. CABIN’S OUTDOOR ENTERTAINMENT SPACE:
The blue stone patio on the back of the cabin has a charcoal grill, gas grill, a pizza oven, fire pit, a 16-foot wood table built by a local craftsman that seats up to 18 and two couch sets. The patio is enveloped by rock walls, perennial gardens, and bathed in café lights at night.

The two-tiered wooden deck facing the stunning valley and mountain views is equipped with Adirondack chairs and sun loungers.

WINTER:
For the winter guests, advise of arrival time and we will remotely turn up the heat so you arrive to a warm home.

SUMMER:
For our summer guests we do not have air conditioning, we do have ceiling fans and wall fans. Since the Catskills and the house is at a higher elevation, humidity tends to be low in the summer and it is about a 10 to 15-degree difference than NYC, the evenings tend to cool off even in the summer months so we recommend you bring a sweater for nights. Summer nights are usually in the low to upper 60s, very pleasant.

High Country Cabin is a stylishly decorated cabin in the heart of the Southern Alps on the South Island of New Zealand. Inspired by the Backcountry huts throughout the area, it provides a rustic country-style experience.

Situated 15 minutes outside of Twizel in the heart of the Mackenzie, it has direct access to all of the natural amenities that the area is world famous for including snow sports, mountaineering, hiking & tramping, mountain-biking, hunting & fishing among many other activities.

The space
**PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING**
Our 50 square metre cabin is designed to have a small footprint while still being stylish and comfortable. Take in the mountain views from every window, as you stay cozy and warm by the log burner
There are some unique differences about being in our country setting, and we may not be for everyone. We are in a little bit of a wild setting, which can mean snow, heat, bugs, rabbits, sheep, birds. So if you're after a more controlled experience, satellite TV, air-conditioning and a day spa, then we're not that place. However, if what you're after are mountain views out every window, curling up in front of the fire, and an amazing night sky, then you've found your unique experience.

**IMPORTANT**WEATHER POLICY
High Country Cabin is in a non urban area. As such the roads to and from town can (not common but possible) become blocked in unusual weather events due to high amounts of snowfall. This is beyond our control. It is the guest's responsibility to keep track of upcoming weather events. In the event that unusually high snowfall is predicted and the guest chooses to relocate elsewhere, High Country Cabin will accept a cancellation and issue a refund on any unused nights if notified before the checkout. A weather forecast from a reputable weather forecasting website must be used as documentation for the cancellation.

PEAK SUMMER:
In our peak summer period (December to February) there are occasional days of extreme heat (30 degrees celsius plus). On average there are about 10 of these days during this period. During this time, the cabin can become quite hot during the afternoon. We find that opening the doors and windows creates a great breeze, and we also find it's a great opportunity to have a swim at nearby Lake Ohau.

DETAILS ON SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
-Our cabin features cleverly designed spaces for sleeping, using partial walls for separation and a degree of privacy. However please note that there are no private bedrooms etc. Think of it as a cozy, single room living space.
The sleeping arrangements are:
-1 Queen bed in master bed area
-1 Queen mattress in upstairs loft area
-1 Single mattress in upstairs loft area

-Log Burner is primary source of heating (works wonderfully) and experience lighting and operating will make things easier for you. Alternatively refer to the instructions in the guest book

-No TV provided

-Refrigerator is an under-counter bar fridge with small ice freezer compartment

-At times livestock (sheep) graze around or near this property. Please close gates as marked

-The driveway and track from the road is unsealed. Please drive slowly and take care especially if you're in a car with a low wheel clearance.

-A note about the "neighbours": We're a small cabin surrounded by fields and other rural homes, close to a conservation park. As such we are surrounded by wildlife all the time. While our cabin is completely vermin proof, sheep, rabbits, hares, hedgehogs, field mice and birds can enter the cabin through open doors. We recommend that you keep the access doors closed especially when leaving the cabin alone for periods of time, and use the windows for airflow, in order to avoid unwanted visits by our sometimes curious neighbours 🙂
