Nestled in the heart of the Nantahala National Forest and along the famous Tail of the Dragon, Lake Santeetlah is a hidden gem that promises an idyllic escape into nature’s embrace. This pristine lake offers a serene and picturesque setting perfect for outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking tranquility. Whether you are a seasoned angler looking to catch bass, a kayaker eager to explore the lake’s numerous coves, a motorcyclist taking on the Tail of the Dragon, or a hiker ready to conquer the nearby Appalachian Trail, Lake Santeetlah has something for everyone.

There are over 250 miles of hiking trails in the Cheoah District of the Nantahala National Forest. Hike within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, nearby Appalachian Trail and among the ancient trees of Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest.

This part of North Carolina is famous for its scenic mountain drives that include the Cherohala Skyway and Highway 129 Tail of the Dragon.

The lake has a variety of fish including small mouth bass, large mouth bass, walleye, crappie, bream, and lake trout. Santeetlah Marina is the only full-service marina on a lake that has 76 miles of forested shoreline. The surrounding mountains dip right down to the waterline, Approximately a mile from the town is Cheoah Point Recreation Area, which has developed swimming, camping, and picnic facilities as well as a public boat ramp.
Santeetlah Marina is only 1 mile from our cabin for boat, kayak, paddle board and water sport rentals. Santeetlah Boat Rentals is also a great option, a little further from our cabin.

The nearby town of Robbinsville is small but provides the amenities needed for your stay with a major supermarket and a few local eateries. Make sure to visit a couple of our favorites Tapoco Lodge (10 miles away and a must visit), T. Dubbs (tell the owner the Aussie sent you) and Kin Cafe. We also love the famous Topoco Lodge for lunch or dinner and beautiful views.

Lake access is a 5 minute drive around the lake to the public beach and swimming area kayaks and boats can be rented from the Santeetlah Marina, also a 5 minute drive from our cabin. The public boat down is a few minutes past the beach access.

What we provide for your lake view getaway:
** Stocked coffee bar and kitchen. Coffee beans, pods, creamer, sugar and tea. Kitchen with all of the essentials and more! Spices, cooking spray, Ziplock bags, storage, etc. so you can cook if you choose to stay in! New appliances – dishwasher, stove top and oven as well as a mini air fryer for those quicker snacks!
** Bath robes for the primary bathroom as well as bath essentials. Shampoo, body wash, hand soap, hair ties.
** Lux bedding and bath towels. Separate spa and lake towels!
** Outdoor Park Grill for grilling time – Please bring your charcoal etc.

Guest access

Paved road all the way to the cabin, with no issues even in winter. Loads of flat parking at the cabin for several cars and we can accommodate trailers. please ask us about any oversized parking prior to booking.
